Japan and US discuss GlobalFoundries chip plant under $550bn pact, Nikkei reports

According to Nikkei Asia, Japan and the US are negotiating the construction of a semiconductor plant under a $550 billion investment agreement. The project is estimated at 2–3 trillion yen ($12.9–19.3 billion) and will be managed by GlobalFoundries, which produces mature and specialty logic chips. No official confirmation yet.
