South Africa sees offshore wind powering AI data centres

South Africa's energy ministry published an offshore wind strategy identifying about 95 GW of technical potential, including 6.4 GW of floating turbines near Cape Town. The ministry sees this as a way to power growing AI data centres, but seabed allocation laws are not yet passed and the first project is expected no earlier than 2035.
