US Genesis Mission backs digital twin to predict SPARC fusion plasma in under 20 minutes
A DOE-backed project led by Commonwealth Fusion Systems will build a digital twin of the SPARC tokamak to predict plasma behavior in under 20 minutes. Four national labs, Nvidia, Google DeepMind and universities are involved, with the goal of speeding up development of the commercial ARC reactor.
- Digital twin targets plasma pulse prediction in under 20 minutes
- Participants include PPPL, Oak Ridge, Livermore, SLAC, Nvidia and Google DeepMind
- PPPL will contribute M3D-C1, TRANSP and XGC codes plus NSTX-U data
- The 20-minute turnaround is a target, not a demonstrated result
