OmniBody simulates cutting and breaking of soft bodies in real time
KAIST researchers presented OmniBody, a method that simulates deformable and destructible objects using ellipsoidal particles with local XPBD constraints and GPU parallelization, avoiding global solvers and remeshing. A 64,000-particle object runs in about 3.1 ms on a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and a demanding cutting test stays under 10 ms. The project was shown at SIGGRAPH 2026.
- 64,000 particles simulate in ~3.1 ms on an RTX 3080 Ti
- Cutting test stays under 10 ms
- Uses oriented ellipsoidal particles instead of a mesh
- Fracture needs no remeshing: contact constraints are deactivated
