IonQ demonstrates quantum memory interconnect with 1,000 entanglement events per second

IonQ has demonstrated a photonic quantum interconnect linking a trapped ion qubit to a solid-state silicon vacancy quantum memory. The system achieved entanglement rates above 1 kHz, more than four times the previous trapped ion record set by IonQ co-founder Chris Monroe's group at Duke University. Results are detailed in an arXiv preprint.
