AI Data Center Boom to Drive 44% Surge in US Gas Power Capacity by 2030
An Environment America analysis finds the buildout of AI data centers will boost US gas-fired generator capacity by 44%, nearly 20 GW by 2030, on top of the current 41.8 GW. Planned wind farm capacity has fallen 34% since December 2025.
