Anthropic launches Cyber Mission with infrastructure defense program and free OSS Scanner

On October 8, 2026, Anthropic launched the Anthropic Cyber Mission to equip critical infrastructure and open-source defenders with frontier models and engineering support. It starts with the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program with 11 partners and a free opt-in OSS Scanner powered by Claude Mythos that sends unreviewed reports.

• CIDP provides Claude models, on-site engineers and threat research for OT systems
• 11 founding partners include Accenture, CrowdStrike, Deloitte and Palo Alto Networks
• OSS Scanner is free and opt-in, with reports generated by the model without human review
• Validation: 85 of 97 findings (88%) met the coordinated disclosure bar
