Westlake Robotics unveils WR1 brain for humanoid robots
Hangzhou-based Westlake Robotics has released WR1, a general brain for humanoid robots. In an October 9 demo, a robot moves between rooms without resetting, and two WR1 humanoids with dexterous hands fold trousers together — a feat the company calls the first public demonstration of full clothing folding.
- WR1 combines a world model and a vision-language-action model into one action sequence
- The GAE motion expert was trained on human motion data and offsets hardware delay
- Two WR1 humanoids pass and fold trousers while tracking each other and the fabric
- On a robotic arm setup, WR1 previously folded clothes in 36 seconds per item
