European Commission deploys Element as sovereign backup to Microsoft Teams

The European Commission has deployed a self-hosted Element Pro instance on its own infrastructure as a backup communications channel in case Microsoft Teams becomes unavailable. Teams remains the primary platform, while Element, built on the open Matrix standard, provides a fallback for messaging, calls and file transfers.
