GLP-1 Drugs Like Ozempic May Slow Biological Aging by 2–4 Years
Scientists at Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly presented data at the ARDD conference showing semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) slow molecular aging clocks by 2–4 years versus placebo. The research is preliminary and has not been peer-reviewed.
- Semaglutide slowed aging by 2–3 years on average, and about 4 years on a heart-protein clock
- Tirzepatide showed slower aging on epigenetic clocks versus the control group
- Data was presented at the 13th ARDD conference and has not been peer-reviewed
- The US government is funding a trial of GLP-1 drugs for longevity in people over 60
