HelixSR Mod Brings DLSS 3.7 to Steam Deck and AMD Handhelds
Developer lonewolf0622 released HelixSR on GitHub, a drop-in replacement for AMD's FSR 3.1 in Direct3D 12 games that runs Nvidia's DLSS 3.7 neural network (Preset E) on AMD GPUs without Nvidia drivers, CUDA or ROCm. Early tests show it outperforming FSR 4: about 3.5 ms per frame versus 4.5 ms at 800p.
- HelixSR runs as plain DirectX 12 compute shaders and works on Linux via Proton
- In Hitman on the BC-250 it hit 35 FPS at 4K versus 17 FPS with FSR 4
- Five updates shipped in two days, adding QSSM mode and an RDNA 3 blur fix
- Only Direct3D 12 games are supported; others require OptiScaler
