Thales Wins Faroe Islands Radar Deal, Closing 18-Year NATO Blind Spot

Denmark's DALO selected Thales to deploy its RSM NG secondary surveillance radar at Sornfelli in the Faroe Islands, completing a two-tier radar architecture at the GIUK gap. The system complements a Lockheed Martin TPY-4 primary radar and fills a coverage gap that has existed since 2007. Thales committed to finishing installation within six months without disrupting civil air traffic control.
