Canada to create digital safety regulator with fines up to billions

AI and Digital Innovation Minister Evan Solomon confirmed at the ALL IN AI conference in Montreal that Canada will establish the Canadian Digital Safety Commission, a regulator with powers to fine companies up to billions of dollars. An organization to build Canada's public AI supercomputer will be announced in early autumn.
