Wireless bipolar electrodes boost zinc-air battery power density by 80%
Researchers at ICMAB-CSIC with ICN2 and the National University of La Plata added unconnected conductive metal elements to a zinc-air battery's electrolyte, creating wireless bipolar electrodes. Ohmic internal resistance dropped by up to 64%, volumetric power density rose by up to 80%, and limiting current density increased by over 50%.
- Ohmic internal resistance cut by up to 64%
- Volumetric power density up by up to 80%
- Limiting current density up by more than 50%
- Overpotential reduced by up to 300 mV
