South African judges use AI before rules are finalised
South African judges are already using AI, including ChatGPT, to help assess evidence even though a draft policy on AI use in the judiciary has not been finalised. In Mavundla v MEC, only two of nine cited precedents existed, and ChatGPT confirmed cases that turned out to be false.
