Gmail may soon let Gemini handle AI Inbox tasks

Google is working on agentic Gemini tasks in Gmail: AI Inbox would show a "Start with Gemini" button next to suggested action items. Gemini will ask for input when unsure and wait for human confirmation before sending emails or marking tasks complete. The feature was spotted in Gmail app version 2026.09.28.
