Epigenetic therapy suppresses hepatitis B in mice for six months
nChroma Bio's CRMA-1001 epigenetically silences HBV DNA without cutting the genome. About 90% of mice given three monthly doses showed no virus for six months, and monkey safety tests found no notable side effects. A Phase 1/2 trial is underway.
- Three monthly doses of CRMA-1001 suppressed the virus in ~90% of mice for 6 months
- A single dose cut viral DNA activity and HBsAg levels more than 1000-fold
- Monkey safety tests showed no notable side effects
- Phase 1/2 trials began in Hong Kong, authorized in New Zealand and the UK
