Vue 3.6 brings Vapor Mode: components without the Virtual DOM
Vue 3.6, still in RC (3.6.0-rc.10), introduces Vapor Mode, a compilation mode that skips the Virtual DOM and updates the DOM directly. It is opt-in via a vapor attribute on components and is supported in Nuxt 4.6 in interop mode.
- Vapor Mode is enabled with a vapor attribute on SFCs and needs no app rewrite
- Vapor matched Solid and Svelte 5 in js-framework-benchmark tests
- Vue 3.6 also refactors reactivity on the alien-signals library
- Nuxt 4.6 supports Vapor only in interop mode, with the app root on the Virtual DOM
