kube-memtier measures per-pod cold memory via DAMON
An open-source node agent, kube-memtier, uses the Linux kernel's DAMON access monitor to classify each Kubernetes pod's memory as hot, warm or cold and exports the results as Prometheus metrics. It requires Linux kernel 6.8+ and cgroup v2, and arrives as Kubernetes swap reaches GA in v1.34, showing which pods can safely move to cheaper memory tiers.
- memtier_damon_hot/warm/cold_bytes metrics come from the DAMON aggregation window
- Requires Linux kernel 6.8+, cgroup v2 and Go 1.22+
- Experiment protocol spans ~400 runs and 25-30 machine-hours
- Includes a root-free LRU mode and a 6-panel Grafana dashboard
