OpenTelemetry Promotes Kubernetes Attributes Processor to v1.0.0

OpenTelemetry has promoted its Kubernetes Attributes Processor to v1.0.0, enriching logs, metrics and traces with Kubernetes metadata such as pods, namespaces, nodes and workloads. The release is not fully backwards compatible: attribute names now follow the stable Kubernetes semantic conventions, e.g. container.image.tag becomes container.image.tags and k8s.pod.labels becomes k8s.pod.label.

• Processor is stable for logs, metrics and traces; profiles remain under development
• New Kubernetes semantic conventions reached stable status in v1.42.0 in June 2026
• Attributes renamed: k8s.pod.labels → k8s.pod.label, k8s.pod.annotations → k8s.pod.annotation
• Feature gates let users emit both old and new conventions during migration
