Half of registry-listed MCP servers fail anonymous use
Pennyforge Studio probed 78 registry-listed MCP servers: only 40 (51.3%) completed the full anonymous path (initialize → tools/list → tools/call), while 15 (19.2%) silently require a token or account at call time. Just 9% have adopted the July 28, 2026 protocol revision, and 5 of 71 endpoints died within 48 hours.
