BMW gives its navigation system a Tesla-style makeover

BMW redesigned its BMW Maps app: route, surroundings and driver assistance data are combined into a single 3D view on the central screen. Starting next month, the update will roll out to cars on BMW Operating System X, beginning with the iX3, then the i3, iX5 and updated i7.

• Single 3D view shows the car in its lane, nearby vehicles and assistance
• Update rolls out next month for cars on BMW OS X
• Feature works only with Highway Assistant or Highway & City Assistant
• Navigation data and maps provided by Mapbox
