Amazon hires ex-Microsoft AI leader to build AWS coding and work tools
Pedram Rezaei, a nearly 20-year Microsoft veteran and former Copilot CTO, starts Monday as a distinguished engineer in AWS's Agentic AI and Emerging Technologies organization. He will work on the Kiro coding tool and the Quick workplace AI assistant.
- Rezaei joined Microsoft in 2006 and became Copilot CTO in February
- He will work on Kiro and Quick under Swami Sivasubramanian
- Kiro users doubled quarter-over-quarter; Quick monthly AI users grew fourfold
- He is the latest Microsoft executive to move to AWS this year
