iOS 27 upgrades Messages with inline replies and Tapbacks for RCS

iOS 27 brings two key RCS upgrades to the Messages app: inline replies to specific messages and proper Tapback reactions. The features are part of the RCS 2.7 standard but were only now implemented by Apple. Messages also supports read receipts, typing indicators and high-resolution photos and videos.

• Inline replies work like iMessage for all chat participants
• Android users no longer see text notices for reactions
• Support is part of the RCS 2.7 standard
• RCS gained end-to-end encryption earlier this year
