SpaceX May Build Its Own Fiber Optic Cables for Starlink and Data Centers
According to a WK substack report, SpaceX is weighing in-house production of fiber optic cables and seeking alternative suppliers of optical transceivers amid US-China restrictions. It currently sources equipment from Corning, Hengtong and YOFC. About 60% of its planned 10GW AI data center capacity will serve SpaceX, Tesla and xAI, with the rest going to large AI firms.
