Chrome tests letting users choose extension site access at install

Google is testing a new Chrome Canary behavior where installing an extension prompts a pop-up to choose between "When you click the extension" and "Always on all sites" instead of granting access to all websites by default. The first option is the default, which could break ad blockers and other extensions that need constant access. No timeline for Stable Chrome has been announced.
