Shenzhen starts west-zone main works on S3FEL soft X-ray laser, first light due 2032

Main construction of the west zone of Shenzhen's Superconducting Soft X-ray Free Electron Laser (S3FEL) began on September 30 in Guangming Science City. First light is scheduled for September 2032, with a total investment of 11.4 billion yuan and a 2.5 GeV, 1 MHz beam producing light at 1–30 nm.
