X-energy completes main structure of TX-1 nuclear fuel plant in Tennessee

X-energy's subsidiary TRISO-X has finished the main structure of its TX-1 fuel facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, spanning 214,000 square feet. The plant is expected to produce about 700,000 TRISO fuel pebbles annually, consuming up to 5 metric tons of uranium — enough for 11 Xe-100 reactors. It is the first commercial-scale advanced nuclear fuel facility built in the US in over 50 years.
