Hainan Commercial Launch Site Phase II Enters Full Rehearsal, Adding Pads 3 and 4
The second phase of the Hainan commercial launch site in Wenchang is essentially complete and entered full-system joint rehearsal on September 29, 612 days after construction began. The new Pads 3 and 4 are set to be ready by the end of the year, raising the site's annual capacity to 60 launches.
- Phase II construction began on January 25, 2025, with a planned period of about 730 days
- Pads 3 and 4 are general-purpose medium-lift pads for Long March 12B and rockets under 5 m in diameter
- The site has completed 23 launches, placing 239 satellites into orbit
- Sea recovery for reusable rockets is expected to start by the end of 2026
