OpenAI to merge ChatGPT, Codex and Atlas into one app by end of 2026

OpenAI plans to combine ChatGPT, the Codex coding app and the Atlas browser into a single desktop app by the end of 2026, with no mode switching. Fidji Simo, OpenAI's CEO of Applications, is leading the effort, while the Sora video team was wound down to free resources for Codex.
