Amazon to equip 20,000 delivery drivers with AI glasses by end of 2027
Amazon plans to deploy more than 20,000 pairs of smart glasses to its delivery drivers by the end of 2027, following an 18-month pilot with 500 drivers and over 275,000 deliveries. The glasses use computer vision to show navigation, package details and hazard alerts in the driver's line of sight. They capture still images during on-foot deliveries, and Amazon says it has not considered an opt-out for customers whose homes appear in those photos.
