WhatsApp tests Restricted Chat with four limitations

WhatsApp is rolling out its Restricted Chat feature to beta testers on Android (2.26.36.4) and iOS (26.39.10.20). In a restricted chat, users can't auto-save media, export the conversation, use Meta AI features or linked devices.

• Feature is available in WhatsApp beta builds for Android and iOS
• Auto-saving media and exporting the chat are blocked
• Meta AI and linked devices are disabled in restricted chats
• End-to-end encryption applies regardless of Restricted Chat
