Google confirms Android Auto media app updates, squiggly line stays

Google recapped five recent Android Auto updates for media apps in a Reddit post, confirming playback controls from any app, a redesigned player UI, swipe between media sessions, and autoplay improvements. The divisive squiggly line design in the media player is here to stay.

• Play/pause and skip controls now work with any media app, including browser audio
• Redesigned player UI for Spotify, YouTube Music and Pocket Casts rolls out in coming months
• Users can swipe between active media sessions from the dashboard widget
• Autoplay will no longer select apps that haven't been used recently
