HCA nurses complain Palantir's AI scheduling tool Timpani ignores their needs
Nurses at HCA Healthcare, the largest US hospital chain, say Timpani, an AI scheduling tool co-developed with Palantir, ignores shift preferences, understaffs teams and assigns too few experienced staff. HCA has rolled out Timpani at roughly 130 of its 190 locations since 2023 and says nursing leaders, not the tool, make final scheduling decisions.

- Nurses report understaffing and too few senior staff on shifts
- HCA says the tool schedules nurses on 1% of requested days off
- A former HCA manager sued, alleging scheduling data was deleted
