China's BEST fusion project campus delivered early as machine enters four-ring assembly
The campus of China's Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak (BEST) in Hefei has been delivered ahead of schedule, and assembly of the main machine has entered the four-ring nesting stage. The vacuum vessel sections, thermal shield and first toroidal field magnet are in place, with overall assembly more than halfway done. Construction is targeted for completion by the end of 2027, with a deuterium-tritium power generation demonstration around 2030.
