Australia's public broadcasters ABC and SBS have urged a parliamentary committee to extend the country's news bargaining incentive to AI companies, forcing them to strike commercial deals with Australian media. The ABC also wants AI firms to follow the same copyright, defamation and privacy rules as media outlets. Anthropic proposed a "narrow form of conditional approval" for model training and said robots.txt could let rights holders block AI crawlers.
