Texas politics may delay Chevron's 2.67GW data centre to 2027

A final investment decision on Project Kilby, a 2.67GW gas-powered Microsoft data centre in West Texas, could slip from late 2026 to 2027 after Governor Greg Abbott paused new environmental permits for data centres. Chevron signed a 20-year power deal with Microsoft in June, with first power planned for 2028.
