Kubernetes Gateway API v1.5 and v1.6 to replace Ingress-NGINX

SIG Network shipped Gateway API v1.5 on February 27, 2026, and v1.6, adopting a Kubernetes-style release train. Six features, including ListenerSet and TLSRoute, reached GA as Ingress-NGINX is retired in March 2026.

• Gateway API v1.5 landed February 27, 2026 with six features in the Standard Channel
• ListenerSet moves listeners out of the Gateway and supports more than 64 listeners
• TLSRoute adds HTTP-unaware TLS routing; HTTPRoute gains a native CORS filter
• Ingress-NGINX is retired in March 2026, making migration to Gateway API imminent
