OpenAI and Synopsys build AI model that runs chip design tools

OpenAI and Synopsys signed a multi-year deal to jointly develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized model that operates EDA tools directly, interprets results and iteratively refines chip designs for PPA, timing and verification. It will run on OpenAI-hosted infrastructure and integrate with Synopsys.ai and Autopilot, with customer data excluded from training.
