New York startup Freckle has launched a $199 smartphone for kids aged 7–13 with a $25 cellular subscription. It runs ClayOS, a simplified platform with no app store, open web or social media, but offers AI object descriptions, a mini-map, walkie-talkie, tap-to-pay and parent-set Quests.
