UK invites digital ID providers to test machine-readable DVS register

The UK's Office for Digital Identities and Attributes is preparing a machine-readable register for Digital Verification Services and is inviting providers to test the infrastructure. Onboarding tests start in October, followed by technical tests of an API model using X.509 and OpenID Federation and a credential model based on ISO/IEC 18013-5.

• Onboarding tests for DVS providers will run in October 2026
• The API model uses X.509 certificates and OpenID Federation specs
• The credential model relies on ISO/IEC 18013-5 (VICAL and RICAL)
• Providers can apply to join the tests via digital.identity.register@dsit.gov.uk
