TVA cleared to build first US BWRX-300 small modular reactor

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved TVA's construction permit for a 300 MW BWRX-300 small modular reactor at its Clinch River site in Tennessee. It is the first US utility authorized to build the GE Vernova Hitachi design; a separate operating license is still required.
