Signal 8.30 adds encrypted local backups to iOS and desktop

Signal released version 8.30, completing the rollout of its secure backups feature across Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. On-device backups with no size limits are now available on iOS and desktop, while Android switched to the same cross-platform format. Restoring requires a recovery key, and hosted backups add a daily-rotating key inside a Trusted Execution Environment.
