Fuzzy Dark Matter: Wave Simulations Match Quasar Lensing Positions
Researchers from Beijing Normal University and the University of Hong Kong derived gravitational-lensing predictions directly from 3D wave simulations of ultralight-particle dark matter for the first time. The predicted image positions of a well-studied quasar matched observations better than commonly used models. The study was published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
- First lensing predictions drawn from 3D wave simulations of fuzzy dark matter
- Simulations matched quasar image positions better than standard models
- Dark matter is thought to make up about 85% of all matter
- The result does not identify dark matter but offers a way to test it
