Microsoft opens Fabric Apps and databases to Power BI users

Microsoft is extending its Fabric data platform to Power BI Pro and Premium Per User customers, who get Fabric Apps and 1GB SQL databases at no extra cost. The company targets 425,000 Power BI organizations and 35 million monthly users, versus 40,000 Fabric customers today.

• Power BI has 425,000 customer organizations and 35M monthly users; Fabric has 40,000
• Apps are built with the open source Rayfin SDK and work with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Codex
• Preview is due in the coming weeks, alongside bidirectional integration with Salesforce Data Cloud 360
