Asus ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro is the first Wi-Fi 8 router at $900

Asus has launched the first Wi-Fi 8 router, the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro, priced at $900. The quad-band device uses a Broadcom BCM6718 chip to reach a theoretical 30 Gbps and 2.3 Gbps at 15 feet, but its full potential awaits Wi-Fi 8 client hardware next year.

• Quad-band: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and two 6 GHz bands, up to 30 Gbps total
• Ports: two 10 Gbps WAN, four 2.5 Gbps and USB 3.2 Gen 1
• 2.6 GHz quad-core CPU, 2GB DDR4, 256MB flash, eight antennas
• Priced at $900; Wi-Fi 8 client devices expected in about a year
