Gemini Skills open to free accounts as Google prepares to sunset Gems

Google has opened Skills access to all Gemini users aged 18 and older with a personal account, dropping the Google AI Pro or Ultra requirement. Gems will be removed from personal accounts in November 2026, with Workspace and Enterprise migrating in March 2027 and Workspace Education in June 2027. Skills will also gain file imports from Google Drive and Gemini Notebook plus sharing.
