Android takes nearly half of global POS terminal shipments

In 2025, Android-based point-of-sale terminals accounted for 48% of global POS shipments while the overall market grew just 1%. Their share is expected to reach about 70% by 2032, displacing Linux and Unix systems; in South Africa, Nedbank, Standard Bank and Absa already market Android-based solutions.
