Zhipu deletes ZCode data after upload scandal, announces compensation

Zhipu AI said it completed technical remediation of the ZCode data upload controversy: all affected cloud data was deleted, with deletion verified by CAICT and NSFOCUS. The company will compensate users, including 100,000 free token packages of 100 million tokens each from September 28 to October 7.

• ZCode packaged entire workspaces into a ~313MB file and uploaded it by default
• Version 3.14.0 removed repository snapshot generation and upload
• Source code is open on GitHub under Apache-2.0, now at version 3.14.3
• Data will no longer be uploaded without explicit user action
