SRG tests Massive MU-MIMO in FDD on Verizon network: uplink gains 'simply outstanding'

Signals Research Group conducted what it calls the first independent live-network test of Massive MIMO and MU-MIMO in FDD spectrum on Verizon's network in St. Paul, Minnesota, with Ericsson as vendor. Upgrading from 4T4R to 32T32R brought major gains, and enabling MU-MIMO boosted uplink further, consistently delivering close to four MIMO layers. Downlink improvements were less consistent.
